ECAC/CBOA Basketball Officiating Instructional Clinic Proves a Success

PLYMOUTH, N.H. -- Thirty-six officials attended the fifth annual ECAC/CBOA Basketball Officiating Instructional Clinic this past weekend at Plymouth State University. The clinic was co-sponsored by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) and the College Basketball Officials Association (CBOA)

The three day clinic provided each registered official with on-the-court evaluation in game competition and classroom instruction from the 20 member staff of ECAC clinicians including current and former NCAA/ECAC/CBOA officials from Divisions I, II and III.

"This was another successful clinic for officials who aspire to improve their skills and for some, gain certification and membership within the ECAC and CBOA for assignment to officiate college games" said Senior Associate Commissioner Steve Bamford.  "No doubt, the officials who attended this year's clinic gained valuable insight and feedback into three-person mechanics but also received instruction on how to employ successful game management procedures, communicating effectively with players, coaches and officiating partners. One additional segment focused on improving the official's level of mental, physical and psychological fitness for game situations."

Camp directors were Tom O'Connor, ECAC New England Co-Coordinator of Men's Basketball Officiating, Ron Martel, current CBOA President and Bob Huber, former ECAC/CBOA official and current ECAC Observer.  Also in attendance and on the clinician staff were Tim McAleer, ECAC Metro NY Coordinator of Men's Basketball Officiating and Lou Filippetti, ECAC New England Co-Coordinator of Men's Basketball Officiating.

The ECAC/CBOA Basketball Officiating Clinic was run in conjunction with the King of the Mountain Team Basketball Camp sponsored by the Plymouth State University's Men's Basketball Program.
