ECAC Partners With United Kingdom Sports Development to Host Youth Soccer Clinic

CAPE COD, Mass. – Commissioner of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC®) Rudy Keeling announced today that the conference will partner with United Kingdom Sports Development (UKSD) to conduct a free youth soccer clinic on Saturday, September 1 at 5:30 p.m. at Peter Homer Memorial Park in South Yarmouth, Mass.

The free clinic is also sponsored by Eastern Bank, an official sponsor of the 2012 ECAC Soccer Classic on Cape Cod.

All  local youth recreation organizations and soccer clubs are invited to attend, as it promises quality coaching from UKSD clinicians and coaches. Collegiate student-athletes and coaches participating in the inaugural ECAC Soccer Classic on Cape Cod preseason tournament will also assist in the management of the clinic, and will work individually with the young players.

”The ECAC is excited to partner with UKSD in bringing a quality soccer clinic to the youth of Cape Cod,” said Commissioner Rudy Keeling. “This clinic, which will be in conjunction with the ECAC’s first annual Division III preseason soccer tournament sponsored by Eastern Bank, will provide instruction and technique to Cape Cod youth who  would not normally be afforded this special opportunity to learn from some of the best. We are proud of this event and graciously appreciate the assistance of the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce in creating a quality experience for all involved.”

"This is a very exciting time for UKSD,” said founder and head clinician Lee Docherty. “It is our sole mission to try and make good quality sports coaching available to everyone. The fact that UKSD and college head coaches are able to be heading this up is a great opportunity not only for the kids but for parents also. We are honored to be a part of this"

The 2012 ECAC Soccer Classic on Cape Cod is the first ever Division III Preseason event hosted by the conference, and will showcase six men’s and women’s programs from across the footprint. Teams will each play two matches and will take part in the clinic.
