Job Description:
Applications are invited for the position of Director of Athletic Communications at Saint Michael's College, a private, Catholic liberal arts and sciences college located in the greater Burlington area of Vermont. Saint Michael’s is a NCAA Division II institution sponsoring 21 varsity sports, and is a proud member of the Northeast-10 Conference and the Eastern College Athletic Conference.
The successful candidate will provide a complete sports
information and public/media relations program for the Purple
Knights. This program must include: maintaining current and
cumulative statistics and records, writing press releases on
individual athletes and teams, creating and managing content for
the athletic department’s web page, utilizing social media
platforms to promote and enhance awareness of the Knights, and
developing promotional materials and publications to support and
increase media coverage of all programs. The Director must act as
an effective liaison between athletes and coaches, and
representatives of the media and greater community.

Applicants must have a bachelor's degree, with emphasis on journalism, communications, or English preferred. A minimum of three years of experience in sports information or a related field is required. Strong oral and written communication skills, along with demonstrated computer competence in Microsoft Windows software, QuarkXpress, StatCrew statistical software, web design, and desktop publishing is essential. This position requires regular office hours, as well as evening and weekend hours. Valid driver's license required and ability to successfully pass driving record check.
