Landmark Conference - Commissioner

COMMISSIONER POSITION

The Landmark Conference made up of eight NCAA Division III mid-Atlantic institutions is accepting applications and nominations for the position of Conference Commissioner.  The institutions, seven independent private and a federal institution, all coeducational, four-year institutions with a residential focus are committed to excellence in the academic and athletic pursuits.  The members include The Catholic University of America, Washington, DC, Drew University, Madison, NJ, Goucher College, Baltimore, MD, Juniata College, Huntingdon, PA, Moravian College, Bethlehem, PA, The University of Scranton, Scranton, PA, Susquehanna University, Selinsgrove, PA and United States Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, PA.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The commissioner will have overall responsibility, subject to the Board, for the operation of the Landmark Conference, to include: strategic planning, conference scheduling, financing and budget development; development and sponsorship opportunities; coordination of all activities and conference meetings; publicity, promotion, marketing, statistical recordkeeping and public relations; NCAA governance issues; and all duties as required/requested by the conference bylaws and/or Executive Board.  The commissioner will also be responsible to supervise and evaluate the full-time Assistant Commissioner, as well as any part-time staff or interns employed by the conference.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

A Bachelor’s degree is required with a Master’s degree strongly preferred.  Five years of successful experience as an athletic administrator at the collegiate level with familiarity and insight into NCAA Division III management is preferred.  Strong communication, organizational and leadership skills with demonstrated competence in organizational development, administration, decision-making, public relations and fiscal management along with a broad knowledge of computer and technological applications to advance the conference is also desired.  

SALARY: 

The Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.  An excellent benefits package will also be available.

START DATE:   The position will be available on June 1, 2012.
