Penn State selected former Princeton head coach Guy Gadowsky as the first head coach of its men’s ice hockey program. The Nittany Lions program begins Division I competition in 2012-13. Gadowsky has spent the past seven years with Princeton. He was head coach at Alaska Fairbanks for five years before that.

Associate athletics directorsNathan Pine has been hired as a senior associate athletics director and chief of staff at Maryland.

Women’s basketball – Illinois-Chicago hired Regina Miller as head coach. Miller has 23 years of experience coaching in Division I, the last 10 as head coach at UNLV.

Colgate University hired Matt Langel as the 20th head coach in the 111-year history of Colgate basketball. Langel arrives in Hamilton after spending the past five seasons as an assistant coach at Temple University (2006-11).

Men’s and women’s ice hockey –
Providence selected Nate Leaman for its men’s program. Leaman spent the past eight seasons as head coach at Union (New York).

Athletics
directors – New Jersey City hired Alice De Fazio as its new athletics director.

Men’s basketball – Colgate chose Matt Langel as the 20th head coach in the 111-year history of the program. Langel arrives in Hamilton after spending the past five seasons as an assistant coach at Temple … George Washington released Karl Hobbs. The university will begin a nationwide search for his successor, led by incoming athletics director Patrick Nero. Hobbs has served as head men's basketball coach since 2001.

Men’s and women’s cross country and track and fieldJennifer Adams is the new head women’s cross country coach at Mount Holyoke. Adams was Rensselaer’s assistant coach for both the men’s and women’s cross country and track and field teams for two years before coming to Mount Holyoke.

Men’s and women’s gymnasticsJason Butts has been named West Virginia’s new head women’s gymnastics coach. Butts has been part of the Mountaineers staff for five years, starting as assistant coach. He replaces the retiring Linda Burdette-Good, who compiled 600 wins in 37 seasons.

Men’s basketball assistants –
 Towson hired Kevin Clark, who was an assistant at Rhode Island for the past seven years.

Women’s basketball – St. Vincent promoted Jimmy Petruska, who has been with the Bearcat program since 2006 and served as interim coach after the sudden death of former coach Kristen Zawacki late last year.

Field hockey
– Wellesley hired Julia King as head field hockey coach. King comes to Wellesley after two years as an assistant at Trinity (Connecticut). 



CORRECTION
: In a previous issue of the Record, a football coaching change at Castleton was announced incorrectly. The correct announcement is that defensive coordinator Marc Klatt was promoted to head coach after Rich Alercio resigned.
